March 2009 - JARMAN DALITZ
SWAPS TO THE AKS BENSON KART
Prominent
South Australian Junior Jarman Dalitz, the 2008 South Australian Festival State
Cup winner in Junior Clubman, has now stepped into the 2009 AKS Benson Racing
kart. Jarman previously raced the Redspeed Chassis supplied by
AKS during the 2008 season.
The latest AKS Benson chassis is similar in design to
the Redspeed / Tony Kart chassis and Jarman reports that the changeover has been
a breeze. His debut in the kart was in Junior Clubman at the
first round of the Victorian Country Series held in Horsham on Sunday 8th
March 2009. With a strong field of Victorians in the first heat, Dalitz
drove the Benson home for a fast finishing second place behind the reputed
driver Aaron Johnson and in front of Nicolou and Waters.
In the second heat a major incident at turn one caused a red
flag. During this incident damage was caused to the chain guard but it did not
stop Jarman’s kart.
On returning to the in grid compound after the red flat,
Dalitz was disqualified from the restart because of the missing section of the
chain guard. BIT TOUGH BUT THEM’S THE RULES!
As a result of
this incident, the re-run was
reduced to a field of only 5. Had Jarman been allowed to race, he only had to
beat 2 competitors to set up pole position for the final instead of 6th.
He finished a credible 5th in the last heat.
Jarman is looking forward
to the 2009 kart season and is confident of many podium finishes in his new
AKS Benson.

November 2008 . . . MICHAEL CROSS drives new AKS Benson/PRD
Fireball at SGKC Club Championship.
Prominent
and leading South Australian Clubman Heavy driver Mike Cross drove the recently
released 09 spec 32mm AKS Benson chassis powered by new PRD Fireball 125
motor. This combination was an ‘out the box’ set up apart
from running in the motor. It proved to be outstanding and drew
considerable interest and favourable comments from other karters.
Unfortunately, in two of the four heats, Mike had
to withdraw due to the loss of a plug lead during Heat 3 and the loosening of
the header pipe nuts during Heat 4. That’s motor sport!
Entered in the Sportsman 125 Light Class, racing on
the more economical MG Red tyres, the kart and motor performed faultlessly
winning the first 2 heats by the length of the Bolivar straight. Mike was
wrapped with the combination and reported the chassis was excellent to drive and
handled a treat. The motor was fantastic with excellent pull out of corners and
had extremely good mid range power.
Dave (AKS boss) says there are a few ‘tweaks’ that
can be done to the motor which we're sure will enhance the performance even
further. We intend to complete extensive track testing over the break period
with this kart so our customers can be assured of getting the best from this
package.
AKS is promoting the package as a great TAG (open
or restricted) combination or the class that is proving to be very popular,
Sportsman 125 (MG Red tyres). Dave is making this kart available for
eligible karters to test drive.
